Hi, I'm Vinnie!
Photography is in my blood!
Back in the fifties, after retiring from the Army, my grandfather found himself at a crossroads. Then, he picked up a camera—and fell in love with film photography. That passion led him to start a business in my hometown in Brazil, and to this day, the Marcanth name is synonymous with photography.
My mother joined him, and later, my father did too. So, naturally, my path was set. By the time I turned 18, I knew there was nothing I wanted more than to be a photographer. A few years later, my sister joined the family business, and together, we built a successful studio that thrived for over 12 years.
So how did I end up in Northern Ireland, 7,000 miles from home, starting Heart Lake Photography?
In 2017, while photographing a wedding, I struck up a conversation with a guest who had flown in from Europe. Neither of us knew it then, but that conversation would change our lives. That guest would soon become my wife, and together, we’d have not one but two weddings!
During our first chat, I told her about a farm I had visited for a photoshoot—a place with a heart-shaped lake. A year later, we finally visited it together, and it was even more magical than I had imagined. Now, years later, we’re happily married, living in beautiful Portaferry, Co. Down.
I suppose you could say I’m a romantic at heart—so I’d love to hear your love story! Whether it’s a wedding, a family session, or a milestone worth celebrating, let’s create photographs that you and your family will treasure for generations.
Get in touch—I can’t wait to capture your memories!
